Spring Fishing Action Heats Up in Point Pleasant Beach

Inshore Action
Striped Bass: Anglers are having success targeting striped bass around the backwaters using Rapala XRaps and soft baits, particularly near bridges. The first bluefish of the season have also been spotted entering the river, signaling the start of the chopper season.

Blackfish (Tautog): Blackfishing remains strong, especially at the south Barnegat Jetty. Anglers are finding success using salted clams, with some limit catches reported.

Fluke: While still early in the season, fluke are beginning to show up in the area. Anglers are advised to keep an eye out for them as the water warms.

Offshore Highlights
Blackfish (Tautog): The Norma-K III out of Point Pleasant Beach has been sailing daily for blackfish, reporting a mix of keepers and shorts, with a few limit catches. The boat sails at 7:30 a.m. daily, weather permitting.

Cod and Pollock: Offshore trips have yielded some ling, seabass (released), and short Pollock. While the season is nearing its end, conditions are expected to improve with favorable weather.
